Rachel Joy Scott
<-----This is the hands that Rachel drew on her dresser. Rachel Joy Scott was the first person killed on April 20th, 1999 in the Columbine High School Shooting. Rachel was shot while eating lunch with a friend, on the lawn outside the school's library. She was killed by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold with multiple gunshot wounds to her head, chest, arm, and leg. She had known one of the shooters, Dylan Klebold since kindergarten. After they had shot her in the leg one of the shooters had asked if she believed in god. She said "Yes, Know I do," So they shot her in the head at point blank range. She had said that she would die in a year on April 20th, 1999 one year before she died on that day. She had known that 13 other people would die too. She had drawn a picture on an eye with 13 tear drops coming from it onto a rose. She had also drawn two hands and written "These hands belong to Rachel Joy Scott and will someday touch millions of peoples hearts." in them on the back of her dresser. Her parents had not known she was dead until Thursday that week on the confirmed dead list. After her death her car was turned into a makeshift memorial by her friends where it sat in the parking lot. Rachel was a kind girl and wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed in. Now her parents go all around the world to different school teaching Rachel's Challenge to students. They teach about what happened and that people shouldn't bully people. Rachel is an inspiring girl to all of us. She once said, "I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion then it will start a chain reaction of the same." She was buried at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in the Columbine Memorial Garden in Littleton, Colorado.
